CEDAR FALLS — Russell Sater, 76, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.

He was born June 6, 1937, in Des Moines, son of John and Hazel Starkweather Sater. He married Patsy Bass on Oct. 2, 1960, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mr. Sater served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Helena during the Korean War. He was employed for 27 years with Chamberlain Manufacturing and then seven years with Richway Industries, Janesville.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Judy (Rod) Leach of Ankeny; a son, Terry of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Nick and Amanda Leach; two sisters, Margaret Sherfy of Verona, Mo., and Carmen Kelly of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by three brothers, John, Dick and Bob; and two sisters, Alice Holton and Mary Sater.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hartford United Methodist Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Military honors will be provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
