[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, December 19, 1888, Waterloo, Iowa]

A brief notice appeared in the Courier at the time of the death of Mrs. John Ball. Since then we have learned the following particulars:

Mrs. Juliet Ball was born in Scott county, Kentucky, in 1819. She afterwards moved to Marion County, Missouri, where she was married to Mr. Ball and, in 1845, they moved to Dubuque County, Iowa, and were among the pioneers of that section.

They remained in Dubuque County until 1864 when they came to Blackhawk County and have resided here ever since.

Deceased was the mother of eight children, of whom only one survives her. She was afflicted for
some time with dropsy and died of that disease Nov. 27. The funeral services were held Nov. 29 and the remains were interred in Fairview Cemetery.
