CEDAR FALLS - Dr. Michael Charles "Doc" Weires, 82, of Cedar Falls, died at his home Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, of cancer.

He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Marshalltown, son of Paul and Tess Huff Weires. He married Norine Micek May 2, 1953, in Columbus, Neb.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific and Atlantic theatres. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine, Chicago, in 1949. Dr. Weires practiced podiatry in Cedar Falls from 1952 until his retirement in 1998.

Survived by his wife; five sons, Michael A. (Becky) and William P. (Patty), both of Boise, Idaho, Patrick J. of Waterloo, Thomas G. of Cedar Falls and Robert C. (Karen) of Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Michelle T. (Steve) Langenwalter of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren, Patty (Jason) Krueger, Robert Langenwalter, Stephanie Langenwalter, Taylor Dixon, Nicholas Weires, Riker Weires, Kali Weires, Collin Weires, Bailey Brown and Paxon Weires; and a great-granddaughter, Adriyana Krueger.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and James; and a sister, Barbara Shearn.

Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Flag presentation by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's stained glass window project.
