Services for a longtime Waterloo dentist, Dr. James A. O'Connor, 67, of 531 Sunset Road, are set for noon Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John M. Fischer, pastor, will officiate, followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be recited Friday at Oppold Funeral Home by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:30 p. m., by the parish at 8 p. m and by the Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p. m.

Dr. O'Connor died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday in St. Francis Hospital following a stroke suffered Sunday night. He had practiced dentistry in Waterloo from 1924 until the time of his death.

Born at Denison April 19, 1900, he was the son of Thomas and Mary O'Donnell O'Connor. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, N. Y., and was graduated from the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1914, after which he began his practice here. He also served with the Army in World War I.

Dr. O'Connor married Geraldine Mackinus in Waterloo on May 28, 1927. He was a charter member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and member of the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club and Becker-Chapman Post No. 138 of the American Legion. He was a life member of both the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Society, a past president of the Waterloo Dental Society and treasurer for 30 years of the Waterloo District Dental Society.

Preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Dr. O'Connor is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Alton Cobb of Jackson, Miss.; two sons and a daughter, Paul O'Connor, Dr. James T. O'Connor and Mrs. James Berens, all of Phoenix, Ariz. grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Dieter of Kenosha, Wis., and Marie Nicholson of Massachusetts.
