WATERLOO — Kenneth W. Finch, 79, of Minot, Maine, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Central Main Medical Center, Lewiston, Maine, after a brief illness.

He was bom July 10, 1920, near Fairbank, son of Wilber and Marie Garber Finch. He married Gloria Harwood. Mr. Finch served in the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the USS Oklahoma, surviving the Pearl Harbor attack. He then served as a provisional Marine guard at the United Nations in New York City. He was a police officer in Waterloo for 27 years, retiring in 1975 with the rank of captain.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Charles and Paul, both of Waterloo; a granddaughter, a brother, Charles of East Dubuque, HI.; and three sisters, Katherine Berger of Sumner, Pauline Smith of Waterloo and Joan Bybee of Maquoketa.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine; and two brothers, James and Jerald.

Memorial services: 7 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, Minot. Raymond/ Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Mechanic Falls, Maine, (207) 345-5691, is in charge of arrangements.
