WATERLOO - Russell E. Dickson, 101, of Friendship Village, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Friendship Village of natural causes.

He was born March 28, 1906, in Reinbeck, son of Glenn and Helena Backens Dickson. He married Mildred St. Clair Oct. 17, 1937, in Waterloo. She preceded him in death Sept. 8, 1997.

Mr. Dickson was employed in sales at several Waterloo furniture stores including Herman's Furniture, Waterloo Furniture Mart, Sears and Davidsons. He operated his own store, Dickson's Furniture Mart, in Evansdale from 1956 to 1961.

Survived by: a son Gary (Kay) of Collierville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Robert Dickson of Lake City, Fla., and James (Angie) Dickson of Kansas City, Mo.; a great-grandson, Andrew Dickson of Kansas City; and a brother, Dale (Francis) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Darol; two grandsons; and two brothers, Ralph and Wayne.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
