Delva Mae Canady (Dee), 92, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Elkhorn, Neb. A service celebrating her life will be held Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. at Reichmuth Funeral Home, 21901 W. Maple Rd., Elkhorn. Pastor Bill Ritter will be officiating and a reception will follow the service.

Dee was born March 26, 1921, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of Wallace and Ora Baldwin. She grew up there until she married the love of her life, Jack Canady, on May 31, 1941, in Eagleville, Mo. They moved to Omaha, Neb., where daughters Jackie and Sandy were born. They relocated to Waterloo, where daughter Sally was born and continued to live there for 22 years. They then moved to Forest City, where Jack was with Winnebago Industries and then to Fort Dodge, where they owned Dee’s Hallmark Stores. Upon retirement, they moved to Clear Lake. Dee was an avid golfer and bridge player and member of PEO and Tri-T’s. She was a longtime volunteer at Handicapped Village and was an active member of Galilean Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Jackie Weinzeti and her husband, Jim, of Plymouth, Minn., Sandy McHugh and her husband, Jim, of Loveland, Colo., and Sally Peyton and her husband, Bob, of Elkhorn; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jeannette, and her brother, Eugene, and numerous special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her brother, Wallace; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Schaehrer.

Dee was a loving wife and mother, a gracious friend with an infectious smile who was loved and cherished by everyone. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She made a difference in so many lives, and she will be missed by many.

Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
