NOBLE WOMAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH

MRS. PETER STALLMAN DIED OF DROPSY TODAY

Was Noted in North Waterloo for Her Philanthropic Disposition

Mrs. Peter Stallman, aged 56 years, died this morning at the St. Francis Hospital at 6 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks' duration from dropsy. Mrs. Stallman, who resided at 1713 Fourth Street East, was one of the prominent residents of the city and was widely known for her philanthropic work among the poor.

Deceased was born Jan. 12, 1858, near Davis, Ill. Her maiden name was Kate Selzer. She remained on the farm with her parents until Feb. 18, 1879, when she was united in marriage to Peter Stallman at Freeport, Ill. Ten children were born to the union, all of whom are living. Almost immediately after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Stallman came to Iowa, settling on a farm seven miles northwest of Dunkerton. They came to Waterloo In 1897.

Mrs. Stallman was a devoted member of the Emanuel Evangelical Church and a Christian woman of noble character. She was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.

Besides the husband, the ten children surviving are: John, Martin, Charles and Newton of Waterloo and Fred of East Grand Forks, N. D.; five daughters: Lena, Julia, Kate and Florence, living at home, and Mrs. Martha Fox of Hazleton. Three brothers, George Selzer of Buffalo, Minn.; John Selzer of Waterloo, and Louis Selzer of near Dunkerton, and two grandchildren also survive.

The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Emanuel Evangelical Church. with Rev. L. W. Bock in charge, assisted by Rev. J. A. Haehlen. Burial will be in Fairvlew. [Waterloo]
