Peter Stallman, 83, died Friday at 10:30 p. m. at his home, 1713 Fourth Street East, after an illness of three months due to old age and complications.

He was a retired Illinois Central employe and had a record of 28 years' active service with the company.

He was born June 22, 1848, in Mainz. Germany, coming to the United States at the age of 18 years. He spent one year in Freeport, Ill., with relatives and for the last 63 years lived in or near Waterloo.

He married Kate Selzer in Freeport, Ill., Feb. 18, 1879. His wife preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1914.

Ten children and five grandchildren survive him. Children are: Julia and Kathryn Stallman and Mrs, Florence Shafer, all at home: Mrs. Julius A. Mexdorf, 1909 Third Street West; Mrs. Martha Fox, Route 5; Fred E. Stallman, Grand Forks, Minn.; Charles L. Stallman, 518 Saxon Street; John Stallman, 1803 Fourth Street East; Martin F. Stallman, 803 Dawson Street and Newton Stallman, 327 Mullan Avenue East.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p. m. at the home and at 2:30 p.m. In First Evangelical Church, with Rev. O. M. Yaggy, pastor, in charge. The deceased had been a member of the Evangelical church all his life.

The body was taken to the O'Keefe & Towne Mortuary, where it will remain until Sunday afternoon.
