Word has been received by Mrs. Patrick Doherty of 52 Franklin St., of the death of her niece, Ruby Towland, 70, who died Wednesday at Columbus Hospital in Chicago, Ill., of cancer. Miss Towland had been confined at the hospital since Feb. 17.
Born in Ramelton, Ireland, on June 21, 1897, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Towland, she came to Waterloo in 1920. In 1926 she went to Chicago where she worked as a registered nurse until her death.
She is survived by four sisters: Lily Towland of Ramelton, Ireland; Mrs. May Davis, Mrs. Doris Cregar and Miss Beatrice Towland, all of Philadelphia, and four* brothers; Thomas of Philadelphia, Patrick of Minneapolis and William of Mason City. Also surviving are seven nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Services are pending at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday.
