WATERLOO — Lula Kathryn Shimp McDonald, 90, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Lakeview Landing.

She was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Waterloo, daughter of Ralph and Flossie Rienhart Lobdell. She married Richard Shimp on Oct. 7, 1942, and they later divorced. She married Richard McDonald on Sept. 16, 1973. He died Feb. 25, 1985.

Mrs. McDonald graduated from Waterloo West High School, and continued her education at Gates Business College. She worked in clerical, was a retired volunteer at RSVP, was a dietary staff member at St. Francis Hospital and Covenant Medical Center, was a Avon sales representative and worked at Ben Franklin. She was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church and a charter member of St. Timothy’s Methodist Church.

Survived by three sons, Michael (Patricia) Shimp of New Hartford, Dr. Dennis (Janis) Shimp of Venice, Fla., and Sam (Connie) Shimp of Norwalk; a daughter, Sydney (Larry) McBride of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gail and Vincent Lobdell; and a sister, Vinona Hunemuller.

Celebration of Life service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Village. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Lakeview Landing in care of Friendship Village.

Lula enjoyed taking vacation tours, fishing trips and bowling.
