CEDAR FALLS - Dean Allen Kruse, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 12, 1930, in rural Grundy County, son of Conrad and Elizabeth VanTiger Kruse. On Aug. 22, 1948, he married Mildred (Joyce) Voss in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death Nov. 27, 1997.

Mr. Kruse served his country in the U.S. Navy, then returned to Cedar Falls and was employed over the years at John Deere, 7-Up Bottling, Electrolux, WearEver, Larry Lange Ford and Witham Chevrolet. After his retirement, he also worked part time at U-Haul. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survived by three daughters, Kelly Benoit of Jensen Beach, Fla., Kathy (Steve) Taylor of Cedar Falls and Carol (Don) Oliver of Phoenix; a son, Dennis (Mary) of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Amy) Taylor of Waterloo, Derek Taylor of Des Moines, Aaron Stacy of Phoenix, Faith Kruse of Cedar Falls, Emily (Dallas) York of Phoenix, Leah Kruse of Waterloo, Angie Oliver of Phoenix, Marshall Kruse of Cedar Falls, Andrea Oliver of Phoenix, Jessica Taylor of Cedar Falls and Alex Taylor of Cedar Falls; five great-grandchildren, Janaya and Katie Nielsen of Waterloo, Michael Harper of Waterloo and Sydnee and Madden York of Phoenix; an aunt and uncle, Eunice and Allan MacNaughton of Marshalltown; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his dog, Abe.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Harlan.

Private family services were 11 a.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Dean was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed by those who love him.
