Services for Chester P. Stone, 91, of 826 Sunrise Blvd., will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Waterloo American Legion Post 138 and Waterloo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.

Mr. Stone died of natural causes Thursday morning (Oct. 20, 1988) at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1896, in Dundee, son of Amasa O. and Anna Marie "Meg" Stone. He married Hazel Lawless on May 11, 1921, in Waterloo. She died Dec. 7, 1980. He attended Charles City Business School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He owned and operated Black Hawk Electrical Co. for more than 50 years. He also owned Waterloo's first broadcasting station, WRAN. He was chairman of the Iowa Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society. He was past president of the Waterloo Optimist Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Margaret Stone of Waterloo and Patricia Kelley of Phoenix; a son, Paul Chester of Waterloo; four grandsons; and a brother, Harold of Lakeland, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home and for an hour before services Saturday at the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a public Masonic service by Waterloo Lodge 105 A.F. & A.M. will be at 7:30 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church; the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.; or the Shrine Hospital
Eye Clinic.
