RAFFENSPERGER, SCHELLENBERG

Funeral services for Mrs. Leonard Raffensperger, 70, former resident of, Waterloo and wife of the former University of Iowa football coach, were to be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beckman-Butherus Funeral Home in Iowa City.

Mrs. Raffensperger, whose husband was football coach at East Waterloo High school from 1931 to 1948, died of a heart attack Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Iowa City.

Mr. and Mrs. Raffensperger resided in Coralville. They resided in Reinbeek for four years, where he was football coach before coming to Waterloo.

They lived in. Waterloo for the 17 years he was head football coach at East High up until 1948, when Leonard Raffensperger was appointed to the University of Iowa football coaching staff. He later served as head football coach at Iowa in 1950-51. He is now academic counselor at the university.

Mrs. Raffensperger was born at Prairie City. She was graduated from Shimer College and the University of Iowa.

Surviving are her husband, three sons: Gene of West Des Moines; Paul of Corvalis, Ore. and John of Iowa City; one daughter, Mrs. Marcia Schellenberg of Glencoe, Ill. and 11 grandchildren.
