Cyril Phillip Herold was born March 25, 1909 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Carl and Rose Riehle Herold. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Cyril had been employed with Olson's Construction Company as a superintendent for eighteen years, before retiring in 1975.

He is survived by two sons, Cletus (Reva) Herold of Johnston, Iowa and Robert (Jerry) Herold of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Mary Luther of Hampton, Iowa and Virginia (Earl) Hulse of Decorah, Iowa; and eleven grandchildren.

Cyril died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
