Floyd Lentz, 92, of Davenport, a resident of Senior Star at Elmore Place, formerly from Waterloo, went home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

He was born Jan. 2, 1921, in rural Fairbank, the son of Nellie and Herb Nutt Lentz. Floyd married Doris Elizabeth Ede on July 4, 1942, in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2006.

Mr. Lentz spent 41 years of his life as a dedicated employee for John Deere, retiring in 1982. During that time he saw many changes in the tractors and how they were made. He spent many long hours/days supervising the hydraulic pump production ensuring the quality of each pump being produced. Besides John Deere, Floyd worked tirelessly doing multiple jobs to support his family. Once he retired you could always find him playing golf with his friends or finding those out-of-the-way places to enjoy a good steak.

He is survived by his four sons and their spouses, Larry (Linda) of Montezuma, Michael (Rita) of Port Byron, Ill., Kenneth (Barb) of Waterloo and Joe (Rae) of Evansdale; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Dorothy Goeller.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
