WATERLOO — Brian James Mohlis, 34, of Waterloo, formerly of Oelwein, died at home Thursday, July 25.

He was born March 14, 1979, in Waterloo, son of James Frederick and Donna Marie Duckett Mohlis. He married Michelle Marie Schnepf on May 18, 2013, at Teachers Park, Independence.

Mr. Mohlis graduated from Oelwein Community High School, Oelwein, in 1997. He worked at Standard Distributing, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; a son, Preston James at home; his parents of Oelwein; a sister, Robin (David) Phillips of Cedar Falls; and two nieces, Karlee and Rowan Phillips, both of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Fred and Fern Duckett; and paternal grandparents, Fritz and Leona Mohlis.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with burial in Hazleton Cemetery, Fontana Addition, Hazleton. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial fund has been established in his name.

Brian enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, riding his Harley, hockey (Boston Bruins), football (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers) and spending time with his family and friends.
