J. R. Briscoe, 67, of 803 Kunz Drive, died at his home Sunday, June 9, 1991, of cancer.

He was born Nov. 29, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Okla son of George and Lucy French Briscoe. He married Betty Frye on Nov. 6, 1949, in Waterloo. They were later divorced.

Mr. Briscoe was employed at Rath Packing Co for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He served with the U S Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Cherri Kloberdanz of Waterloo; a son, James of Mojave, Calif.; two grandsons; a sister, Aileen Williams of Norman, Okla.; and two brothers, J.D. and Jack, both of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Briscoe, two sisters, Sylvia Tucker and Monta Belle Enriquez
and a brother, Joseph.

Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Chapel of Memories West Funeral Home. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Waterloo Post 1623. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m Tuesday and rrom 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the chapel The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Hospice or American Cancer Society.
