Wendell McWilliams, 70, of 2519 Laurel St., died Saturday June 8, 1991, of natural causes in the hospice unit at Covenant Medical Center at Kimball Avenue.
He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Centerville, son of Victor and Florence McElderry McWilliams. He married Marguerite Keegan on Aug. 1, 1944, in San Francisco. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II in the Pacific. He retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. after 42 1/2 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Mary Jo Fredericks of Waterloo; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry of Rockford, Ill., and Curtis of Washington state; and a sister, Ethel Moring of Elgin, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Flag folding rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at O'Keefe & Town-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 7 p.m.
