John J. Wente, 67, of Los Angeles, and a native of Denver, died Thursday at a Los Angeles hospital of cancer of the pancreas.

Funeral services are Monday at Whittier, Calif., with burial there.

Mr. Wente was born in Bremer County Aug. 3, 1906, lived in Waterloo, attended school here, and left the area about 1932. He had been employed by Crocker Savings and Loan in California until he retired.

Surviving is his wife, of Los Angeles; a daughter, Melody; and a son, James, all at home; three brothers, Laveme of Denver, Oscar E. of 1710 Logan Ave., and Arnold L. of 2006 W. Third St.
