CEDAR FALLS - Roxanne Conrad was born January 11, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Patricia (LeClere) Haynes. She graduated from West Delaware High School in Manchester in 1966. On January 14, 1967, she was united in marriage to Steve Conrad in Iowa Falls.

Roxanne was employed by the University of Northern Iowa for more that 37 years, currently as the University's Director of Purchasing Services. She started her career at the University as a clerk-typist and was continually promoted and ultimately instrumental in creating the Purchasing department. She has been consistently recognized on campus for her outstanding customer service and highly respected off campus by her professional peers. She was active in the Board of Regents purchasing group and the at the national level served as regional past president of the National Association of Educational Procurement, served on their editorial board and chaired the membership committee. For decades she maintained effective relationships with vendors and businesses throughout the state of Iowa and beyond. During her career she was also active on many University committees. She was past Commodore of the North Shore Boat Club

She is survived by her husband, Steve of Cedar Falls; son, Chris (Andrea) Conrad of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Bailey, Sydney, and Caden Conrad, and Alexandra Regenold, all of Cedar Falls; and brother, Jim (Connie) Haynes of Manchester.

Roxanne died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
