Mrs. Jacob Smith, 71, 1325 Linwood Avenue, died Wednesday at 10 p.m. at her home from a sudden attack of myocarditis. She had spent the day at the home of her son, Clifford Guynn, 1323 Linwood Avenue, and was apparently in good health.

Annie Bergen was born in Sergeville, Minnesota, April 5, 1862. She was married to Melvin Guynn, who died in 1904. In 1909 Mrs. Guynn was married to Jacob Smith. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Methodist Church.

Surviving besides her hasband are five sons: Clifford Guynn, 1323 Linwood Avenue; Clyde Guynn, 421 Ninth Street West; Samuel Guynn, 88 Ricker Street; Edward Guynn, Mt. Auburn, Iowa, and Thomas, at home; an adopted son, Paul Smith, at home; one step-son, James Smith, La Porte City, and three step-daughers: Mrs. Clifton Fox, La Porte City; Mrs. Addis Allensworth, 1105 Colorado Street, and Mrs. Clifford Roye, Waterloo.

The body was taken to Hileman & Gindt Funeral Home.
