CEDAR FALLS - Merril D. "Dave" Gibson, 68, of Garber, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 1994, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Avena, Ill., son of the Rev. Earl Hartman and Agnes E. Martin Gibson Sr. He married Ethel M. Hesse on March 31, 1946, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Gibson was employed with Deere & Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Wanda Mae Marks of Plainfield, Marjorie A. Schnathorst of Waverly and Sandy K. Sands of Manchester, a son, David A. Gibson Sr. of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Wattles of Louisville, Ill.

Preceded in death by a grandchild; a brother, Earl H. Gibson Jr.; a half brother, James Ewing; and two sisters, Mona A. Gibson and Clara G. Gibson.

Services; 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, with burial in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Waterloo. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Acker-Matthias American Legion Post 653 of Denver. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
