CEDAR FALLS — Sari Catherine Ward, 58, of Wimberley, Texas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from complications of inflammatory breast cancer.

She was born July 26, 1954, in Columbia, Mo., daughter of Dr. Robert J. and Catherine Balaj Ward.

Ms. Ward graduated from Northern University High School in 1972 and had worked as an oncology and geriatrics massage therapist.

Survived by a son, Ward Benjamin “Ben” Thomas of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Alissa Catherine Thomas of Philadelphia and Amanda Leigh “Mandi” Thomas of Austin; a grandson, Bryce Sang Thomas of Austin; and a brother, Sean Lester “Uncle Doo Dah” Ward of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, (note correct date of service) at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, with inurnment in the Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Richardson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Sari was a proud mother of three children with learning disabilities and devoted herself to the success of their education. She was a constant advocate and cheerleader for the health and education of her family and friends.
