WATERLOO — Eleanor "Ellie" P. Sorge, 85, of Waterloo, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Nora Springs, daughter of Arthur and Pauline Galford Gildner. She was united in marriage with Elton P. Sorge on Aug. 11, 1949, in San Antonio. He died Aug. 29, 2001.
She graduated from Randalia High School. Mrs. Sorge worked for the Waterloo Community Schools for 20 years, first in food service at West Junior High and retiring from the laundry department at McKinstry Elementary school in 1990. She was a member of New Beginnings Wesleyan Church.
Survived by two sons, Arnie (Audrey) of Waterloo and Jim (Sue) of West Des Moines; two daughters, Carolyn Sorge and Cathy (John) Tymenski, both of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Patti Sorge of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Scott Sorge, Alisha Wallace, Kaylene Orr, Amber Behrends, Andrew Sorge and Connor Sorge; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Sorge of Denver.
Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arthur; and three brothers, Bob, Tom and Jack Gildner.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fellowship of New Beginnings Wesleyan Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Eleanor loved her family and enjoyed spending time together playing games. She was an avid bowler for many years and also enjoyed a good card game or playing bingo. Eleanor was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cub’s fan.
