WATERLOO - Erna S. Meewes, 87, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Jubilee, daughter of Charles and Mary Hoppe Schildmeier. She married Dale R. Meewes on May 31, 1956, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 30, 1995.

Mrs. Meewes had been a secretary for Michael Paint, retiring in 1974, after 35 years.

Survived by a sister, Lillian Christensen of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by an infant brother.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the church. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
