CEDAR FALLS — Lucille H. Messerer, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Windhaven Assisted Living Center, Western Home Communities.

She was born July 15, 1917, in Guttenberg, daughter of Harry and Louise Pupke Muschewske. She married Hoyt C. Messerer on Aug. 30, 1941, in Cedar Falls. He died May 4, 2001.

Mrs. Messerer graduated from Guttenberg High School, attended Manchester Junior College, Manchester, and Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught elementary school in Arlington for two years, then after her marriage became a homemaker. She was a member of Beaver Hills Country Club, the Cedar Falls Federated Flower Art Club and Chapter FV PEO.

Survived by a daughter, Ellen (Eldon) Koch of Maquoketa; three grandchildren, Seth (Alice) Koch of Tama, Matt (Michelle) Koch of Coralville and Sarah (Greg) Crom of Cedar Falls; five great-grandchildren, Grant, Mason, Lane, Cade and Quinn Koch; and a sister, Arleen Wolf of Edgewood.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and an infant son, Hoyt C. Jr.

Memorial services 11 a.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Alzheimer Association.

Lucille enjoyed playing golf, bridge, gardening and painting landscapes.
