Services are held here Friday for Evenly Murray, 67

Funeral services were held Friday, April 19, 1996 at Trinity Lutheran Church for Evelyn Mae Dirkesen Murray, 67, of 128 Jefferson Street. Pastor Myron Albertson conducted the services. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo was in charge of arrangements. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murray, passed away at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, following heart surgery on Monday, April 15.

Evelyn was born June 20, 1928, the daughter of Steve and Kathryn Kromminga Dirksen in rural Clay County, Iowa. She attended Everly Consolidated School in Everly, Iowa graduating in 1948.

In 1948 she was united in marriage with Clifford Murray. To this union were born five sons, Raymond, James, David, Kenneth, and Kevin.

She had assisted her husband at Hudson Printing Company, publishers of the Hudson Herald where she had served as Vice President ad bookkeeper for the past thirty-four years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Hudson TIF Committee, and St. Timothy Lutheran Church were she was a member of the Women's organization and had served for many years on the Altar Committee.

Evelyn leaves to mourn her passing her husband, five sons, their wives and families: Ray and Charlene, Erin, Sean, and Katie of Toledo, Iowa; Jim and Janet, Blake, Brianne and Brooke of Faribault, Minnesota; Dave and daughters, Tasha and Tarah and fiance Deb Rhoades of Hudson; Ken and Carrie, daughters Heather and Allison of San Antonia, Texas, and son Bret of Hudson; and Kevin of Waterloo and his fiance Jill Schoeberl of Cedar Falls; a sister Arlene Thorberg of Albion, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Private burial services were held Saturday at Hudson Cemetery.
