Don L. Friedly, 72, of Waterloo died at home Thursday, July 4, 2013.

He was born March 4, 1941, in La Porte City, son of Floyd and Bernice Robb Friedly. He married LaVonne M. Weber on Nov. 14, 1960, in Gilbertville.

Don graduated from La Porte City High School and was a mechanic at John Deere for 41 years, retiring in 2001.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Kelly (Steve) Hines of Dunkerton; four sons, Mark (Deb) and Bruce (Chris) both of Waterloo, Rod (Jackie) of St. Louis, Mo., and Chad (Jenni) of Waverly; 14 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Neva Nerge of Sumner and Corrine (Al) Potter of California.

Preceded in death by: a son, Brad (Michelle) Friedly; two brothers, Paul and Allen; and three sisters, Madeline Wellner, Netha Pries and Marge Neisen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
