BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) - A memorial ride will be held in July to show support for injured motorcycle crash victim Derek Martie of Jesup and his girlfriend, Katlyn "Kate" Leekley, who died of injuries she sustained in the crash.

According to police, the two were riding a motorcycle along Dubuque Road in Black Hawk County when a man swerved over the center line and crashed into them, sending them into a ditch.

Organizers say the ride will go by the crash site, where folks can pay respects to Leekley.

The ride will end at Teacher's Park in Independence with food and drinks. Organizers noted no alcohol would be provided.

Donations for the ride will go toward the Martie and Leekley families for expenses they have incurred.
