Catherine M. Boege died peacefully at the Western Home Martin Center on May 16, 2006.

She was born on October 2, 1915, on a farm in Ackley, IA to Frank and Abbie Croot Hayes. She married Les Boege in 1939. He and son Tim ran Boege's Radio and TV in Cedar Falls for over 50 years before their deaths in 1978 and 2003.

Catherine was an active member of St. Patrick Church and a friend to many. She was an avid bridge player and a volunteer at the Western Home prior to her residence there the past two years.

Her family includes four children, daughters Karen Kuehl and David Macmaster of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Nancy Beck and Leon of St. Paul, MN, Mary Ann Drain and Ted of Washington, IA, and a son, Tim (deceased) and daughter-in-law Connie Boege of Cedar Falls. She has nine grandchildren: Ann (deceased), Sara, Ryan, Peter, Jill, Ted, Katie, David and Diane; and four great-grandchildren, Payton, Alex, Dillon and Eva.

She enjoyed telling people she was the oldest of nine children: Robert Hayes (deceased), San Diego, CA; Ruth Miller, New Hampton, IA; Mary Goldstrand, Minneapolis, MN; Claude Hayes, Strawberry Point, IA; Lu Mazzu, Destin, FL; Marjorie Plummer (deceased), Muscatine, IA; Lawrence Hayes, Encinitas, CA; and Audrey Brinker, New York, N.Y.
