WATERLOO — James Lee “Jim” Allen, 70, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born July 9, 1942, in Waterloo, son of Gerald Bruce and Vivian Neith Allen. He married Bonnie Macon, and they later divorced. He then married Sherill Newell on July 29, 1993, in Las Vegas.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School. Mr. Allen owned the Wagon Pit and was also a bar owner. He worked at John Deere and retired in 1999.

Survived by: his wife; his mother; four sons, Mike Allen of Texas, Rusty Allen and Steve Newell, both of Waterloo, and Daryl Newell of Washburn; five daughters, Jami Allen, Mary (Dave) Michelsen, Debbie (Stacy) Pullins and Sheila (Chris) Larson, all of Waterloo, and Susie (Denis) MacMahon of Washburn; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathy (Al) Tarr of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his father; and grandparents.

Private graveside services: will be held at Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Memorials may be directed to the Heart Association.
