Services for William J. "Billy" Casteel, 81, of 2425 Randolph St., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Memories West with burial in the Wilson Cemetery in Independence. He died Saturday at Schoitz Medical Center.

He was born June 17, 1902, in Buchanan County, the son of John and Ellen Winner Casteel, He married Hazel T. DeWald Dec. 15, 1934, in Clinton, Ill. He had farmed for many years in Buchanan County and moved to Waterloo in 1949. He had worked at the John Deere Tractor Works for 21 years before retiring June 16, 1967.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Fleming of Wenatchee, Wash.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald of Waterloo, and three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Burke, Mrs. Gertrude Morgan and Mrs. Sarah Azbill, all of Waterloo.

Friends may call at Chapel of Memories West after 3 p.m. Sunday.
