WATERLOO — Diane L. Nichols, 73, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 18, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Hudson, daughter of James and Evelyn Hoeg Davis. She married Marlin R. Nichols on Oct. 10, 1964, at First Congregational Church, Waterloo.

She graduated from Hudson High School in 1957. Mrs. Nichols worked for various educational and health organizations, retiring from Black Hawk County Health Department as the environmental health secretary in 2002 after 20 years.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Michelle (Bob) Folkerts of Allison and Rhonda (Mark) Chiattello of Cedar Falls; a son, David (Anize) of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Steven and Holly Folkerts, KyLeigh, Colton and Kierston Nichols and Alanna Chiattello; a great-grandson, Sawyer Folkerts; two brothers, Leland (Vicki) and Donald (Jackie) Davis, both of Waterloo; and the families of Marlin’s brothers and sisters.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
