WATERLOO - Raymond Hippen, 88, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Stout, son of Adolph F. and Hilkeline L. Stickfort Hippen. He married Marjorie G. Turner on March 13, 1949, in Waterloo. She died Aug. 19, 2012.

Mr. Hippen was employed as a mechanic by the city of Waterloo for 24 years, retiring in 1987. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

Survived by a son, David N. (Linda) of Lincoln, Neb.; three daughters, Lorna Jean (Ken) Humbertson of St. Louis, Cherie Louis of Cedar Falls and Jeanette G. (Fred) Mertens of Texas; two sisters, Gertrude (Don) Mitchell of Traer and Jeanette Brown of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harvey L.; five brothers, Harm, Adolph, Frank, Oliver and Harvey; and a sister, Lena Lambert.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
