Calvin L. Peck, 83, who had resided for 72 years on the Peck homestead farm about six miles south of Waterloo, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday at the Woodlawn convalescent home, where he had been a patient for about a year. Death was due to complications incident to advanced age.

While at the convalescent home, his regular residence address was Rt. 4, Waterloo, so he could be considered a life-long resident of the Peck homestead.

He was born on the Peck homestead farm July 28, 1881, the son of Jeremiah J. and Elizabeth Lichty Peck. He married Aletta Lewis at Garrison, Iowa in 1904. After their marriage they resided at the Peck homestead, where he operated the farm.

Following his retirement from farming about 10 years ago, he continued to reside there at the place of his birth until going to the convalescent home a year ago. He was a member of the First Brethren Church. He received his education in the Eagle Township schools of Black Hawk County and also attended Mt. Morris College at Mt. Morris, Ill.

Surviving are one son, Melvin, Rt. 4, Waterloo; two grandchildren, Jeannine Ann Peck Cooper of Phoenix, Ariz, and John Allan Peck of 434 Vaughn St.; three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1954; two brothers, one sister and one infant daughter.

Funeral services for Mr. Peck will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Parrott & Wood Chapel with the Rev. James Black, pastor of the First Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.
