WATERLOO - Gertrude Marie Augustson, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Waverly Health Center, Waverly, of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Canton, daughter of William and Sarah Potter Moore. She married Harold Julius Augustson on Sept. 4, 1934, at Maquoketa. He died Feb. 16, 1992

Mrs. Augustson was employed for many years in the sliced bacon department at Rath Packing Co., retiring in 1967.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Christine) of Montrose, Colo.; a son-in-law, Perry Stevens of Des Moines; a daughter, Nancy (Tony) Lorsung of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Karen Augustson of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nellie Chase of Davenport and Camilla Clark of Maquoketa.

Preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Tony; a daughter, Marcella Stevens; a grandson, Robert Stevens; two infant brothers; and four sisters, Annie, Evelyn, Faye and Joan.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Valley Community Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
