[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, October 30, 1895, Waterloo, Iowa]

Mr. H. A. Snyder, of this city, today received from Sioux Falls, S. D., a copy of a memorial booklet of his cousin, the late Wm. Henry Stifler, D. D., who died at his home in that city, the 15th of September just after returning from the national Baptist convention at Baltimore, at the age of 54 years.

Dr. Stifler was several years ago pastor of the Baptist church at Cedar Falls, and on several occasions preached in this city. At the time of his death ho was pastor of the First Baptist church at Sionx Falls, and stood well in the councils of his denomination.

The memorial, of which Mr. Snyder has a copy, is a handsomely printed booklet and contains the funeral sermon and other words addressed to the memory of the departed. One especially prized quotation is from the pen of Dr. S. F. Smith, author of "America," who pays a glowing tribute to the dead.
