Services for James I. Dale, 77, of 421 Cottage St., will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of God in Christ Gospel Temple with burial in the Garden of Hymns Section in Garden of Memories Cemetery. He died Thursday night at St. Francis Hospital.

Born Aug. 4, 1904, in Durant, Miss., he was the son of Ike and Rebecca Smith Dale and married Annie Love Aug 4, 1945, in Tchula, Miss. She died in 1979. Retired from the Illinois Central-Gulf Railroad.

He is survived by a son, Roosevelt Dale of Omaha, Neb.; five stepsons: Earl Wash, 427 Cottage St., Artha T. Wash of Cruger, Miss., Henry Wash., and Willie Wash, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Ezell Wash of Tchula, Miss.; four step-daughters; Mary Alexander 227 Ricker St., Myrit Brown of Cruger Miss Betty Mae Green of Chicago and Lonnie Dale of Kansas City, Kan; a brother, Lee Dale of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild, and 70 step-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Chapel East Mortuary Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the church.
