WATERLOO - Medina Kovac, 7, of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was born Dec. 3, 1994, in Bosnia, daughter of Semsudin and Safija Merdic Kovac.

Survived by her parents; and a brother, Meldin.

Graveside services were 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Parrott and Wood Funeral Home, an Overton service, was in charge of arrangements.

WATERLOO — A 7-year-old girl injured in a Sunday traffic accident died Monday at
University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Waterloo police said.

Medina Kovac, 7, of 1014 Leavitt St.. died from injuries in the accident, which occurred at 12:48 p.m. Sunday The girl's father was driving south on West Ninth Street when he apparently lost control of his Chevrolet Lumina because of ice and snow near a curve in the street's 1600 block, police said. The car crossed the center line into the path of a Ford Explorer.

She was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City in very critical condition. She was pronounced dead Monday afternoon by a Johnson County medical examiner.

The driver of the Explorer and passengers in the Lumina were not injured.
