Waterloo - Thomas Jefferson Farris, 79, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, April 14, 2004, of natural causes.

He was born March 26, 1925, in Greenbrier, Tenn. son of Robert and Opal Cornelius Farris. One June 24, 1950, he married Pauline Waddill in Bowen, Ill.

Mr. Farris graduated from business school in Quincy, Ill., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a regional sales representative for the Moorman Feed Co., and was Sunday school superintendant at Reinbeck United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Cindy Gerhard of Grundy Center, Mary (Gordon) Vaughan of Cedar Falls and Angie (Mark) Bishop of Navarre, Fla; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson; a sister, Ruth Riddle of Lincoln, Calif; and two brothers, Joe of Phoenix, Ariz., and Paul of Roseville, Calif.

Preceded in death by: a son, Steven; and two brothers, Jim and Clarence Farris.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Reinbeck, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Action Post No. 242 of Reinbeck. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with family present 2 to 4 p.m., and with a 4 p.m. Masonic service by the Coin Masonic Lodge 394 AF&AM of Reinbeck.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice, the Salvation Army, Reinbeck United Methodist Church or Samaritan's Purse of Franklin Graham Ministries.
