CEDAR FALLS — James H. “Andy” or “Sarge” Anderson, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born April 16, 1931, in New Hampton, son of Oscar and Margaret Ralph Anderson. He married Margaret A. Simon on May 14, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

He attended Jerico rural schools and received his GED at Hawkeye Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge, he joined the National Guard of Iowa where he was employed as a maintenance technician, retiring in April 1991 as a battalion motor sergeant-first sergeant.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Dennis (Julie) of Waterloo, Steven (Linda) of Charlotte, N.C., and Todd (Dawn), also of Waterloo; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert (Susan) of Fort Myers, Fla.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
