WATERLOO — Esther Kathryn Donaldson, 96, of Wittmann, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz.

She was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Waterloo, daughter of William and Kathryn Harris Bernett. She married William R. Donaldson May 6, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1983.

Mrs. Donaldson was a receptionist at Schoitz and Covenant hospitals for 30 years, retiring in 1989. She was a longtime member of the Eagles Club, Eastern Star, and the Historical Society in Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by her husband; a son, David M. Donaldson; a brother, Arthur A. Bernett; and a sister, Midge Riley.

Services: Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the Burn Unit, 3229 Burnnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
