HUDSON - Services for James F. (Jim) Randall Sr., 57, 121 South Jefferson Street, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. There will be a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday and a family rosary Thursday night at Carter O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home, National Drive, Waterloo, where friends may call until service time. Jim passed away at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 31, 1924, at Earlville, Iowa, the son of Elizabeth Walter and the late Linn Randall. On June 13, 1949 he married Mildred Spiro at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waterloo.

He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and was taken as a prisoner of war in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

From 1949 to 1960, he owned and operated Randall's Food Market in Waterloo. In 1960, he built Randall's Stop 'N Shop in Hudson, which he owned and operated, along with a grocery store in Traer for a period of time.

He was a board member of the Associated Grocers of Iowa for 20 years and served as treasurer of that Association. He was also an active member of the Hudson Amvet Post 82.

He is survived by his wife, Milly; seven children: James Jr. of Costa Mesa, Calif., Mary McClellan of Cedar Falls, Toni Randall of Martinez, Calif., Joe of Waterloo; Roxanne Nielsen of Gunnison, Colo.; Liz Randall of Des Moines; and Jerry at home; his mother; one sister, Kathleen Tallia of Fairfax, Virginia; five brothers, L. J. of 625 Hammond Ave. Waterloo, Robert and Richard, both of Kenosha, Wis., Gene of Fairfax, Va., and David of Independence; and two grandsons, Tom McClellan and John Randall.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son, John Paul.

Memorials may be made to St Joseph's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
