WATERLOO — Lois Virginia Rebholz, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Friendship Village of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Bernard and Noma Miller Bachtell. She married Howard Kelley in 1945 in Corvallis, Ore., and they later divorced. She married James Howard Rebholz on Oct. 12, 1974, in Waterloo. He died Nov. 13, 1992.

She graduated from West High School in 1939 and the University of Iowa School of Nursing in 1943. She was a nurse in the Rath Packing Co. First Aid Department from 1962 to 1965, a Visiting Nurse from 1965 to 1969, and retired as school nurse at River Hills School in 1982 after 13 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the music programs and a choir member for 40 years, as well as church elder. She is a charter member of Waterloo Chamber Diplomats, former Waterloo Women’s Club board member, Friends of Visiting Nurses board and Waterloo Elklets.

Survived by a son, David (Martha) Kelley of Piedmont, Calif.; two daughters, Jan (David) Hammelman of Brookfield, Wis., and Barbara (Póul) Nielsen of Montara, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Kelley Wirrick of Mifflin, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Karen Monroe of Cedar Rapids; a stepson, Jim (Carole) Rebholz of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a stepson-in-law, Gary Marburger of Vista Lago, Texas; a sister-in-law, Margaret Bachtell of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Douglas Kelley; a stepdaughter, Marianne Marburger; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Mae Kelley; a brother, Ross Bachtell; and two sisters, Edith Ball and Judith Garrison.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation, with a private family burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church, River Hills School or Friendship Village Foundation.
