WATERLOO — Weldon G. Fox, 88, of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, May 16, 2013.

He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in La Porte City, son of Boyde and Marie Cook Fox. He married Lucille McGraw-Hamilton on May 24, 1952, in Independence. She died Sept. 27, 1991.

Mr. Fox was employed with John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. for more than 24 years. He also owned and operated Bassett Tavern, Bassett, and Farmers Friend, Waverly.

Survived by a son, James Fox of Waterloo; two stepsons, Tom and Paul Hamilton, both of Independence; a stepdaughter, Mary (George) Linkenmeyer of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Jamey Fox, Amy (Mike) Fleming, Sarah Fox, Kaiti Fox and Matthew Fox; seven great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rita Fox of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jane Phillips; a stepson, Patrick Hamilton; and three brothers, Russ, Loyde and Lee Fox.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with entombment in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
