Funeral services for William J. Burns, 82, of 328 W. 14th St., will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Hageman Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph G. Colas, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Larry Russell, a grandson of Mr. Burns, and pastor of the Unionville Baptist Church in Unionville will assist. Burial will be in Midwest Garden of Memories.

Friends may call at the Kearns- Dykeman Chapel from noon until 9 p.m. today and until noon tomorrow when the body will be moved to the church. Those who wish may contribute to the Black Hawk Chapter of the American Cancer Society in his name. Mr. Burns died Friday morning at Schoitz Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 9, 1891, in Peatone, Ill., the son of Charles and Anna Pester Burns. He married Estella Fleming on Oct. 31, 1912, in Oelwein. He had resided in Waterloo since 1929. He was employed by the Jens Olesen Construction Company for 18 years and prior to that was engaged in farming in the Oelwein area.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, George of Vista, Calif., Melvin of 5952 A-B Drive, Charles of Tustin, Calif., and Richard of Vista, Calif.; three daughters: Mrs. Nellie Russell of 121 Clark St., Evansdale, Mrs. Ann Russell of 1439 Lyon St., and Mrs. Betty Wagner of Dubuque; one brother, Weldon of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Freeman of Center Point, and Mrs. Matie Rotleff of Murray, Ky.; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
