CEDAR FALLS- Dorothy E. Holtkamp-Stitt, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday Jan. 2, 2008, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 11, 1929, in West Union, daughter of Arthur E. and Edna M. (Messerer) Reeck. She married Rolf A. Holtkamp on July 3, 1949 in Waterloo. He died January 13, 1968. She then married Clyde L. Stitt. They later divorced.

Ms. Stitt was a graduate of Waterloo West High School. She was a homemaker for her family. She displayed her artistic ability when she began painting in the early 1950’s, and later she began carving emu and ostrich eggs. In 1976, she opened the Broom Factory Restaurant on the Cedar River in Cedar Falls. She was very active in the fund raiser to save the Cedar Falls Bible Conference Grounds.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynne (Youri) Dimitrov and a son, Daniel A. Holtkamp both of Cedar Falls; and two granddaughters, Miroslava Dimitrova of Cedar Falls and Tatyana Dimitrova of Milan, Italy.

Preceded in death by a son, Michael; and two sisters, Marion Schoephoerster and Vera Pippenger.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home. Visitation also for one hour before services Monday at the church.
