WATERLOO — Mildred Demmel, 100, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born March 7, 1913, in Waterloo, daughter of Clarence and Phoebe Lincoln Juel. She married Wilbur W. Demmel on Sept. 8,1934, in Galena, Ill.

Mrs. Demmel graduated from East High School in 1932. She was employed by Walker Remedy and then became a homemaker.

Survived by a nephew, Richard (Elizabeth) Juel of Cranberry Township, Pa.; four nieces, Phyllis (Dave) Mixdorf of Dewar, Juantia Fortsch and Mary Jane (Ivan) Averhoff, both of Waterloo, and Nancy Lee (Robert) Speed of Dunkerton; four cousins, Alice (Harlan) Shirk of Waterloo, Lila Long of Godfrey, Ill., Don Carstensen of Florida, and Jean Allen of Iowa; and many great- nieces and -nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, her twin, Milton Juel, and Melvin Juel.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church where she spent a lot of time with a sewing group. Her hobbies were flowers, gardening embroidering, ceramics and crafts. She loved showing her Persian cats.
