WATERLOO — Richard Raymond Meeks, 60, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born May 16, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Calif., son of Harry and Ragene Skarzinski Meeks. He married Krystal Weidemann June 8, 2002, in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Mr. Meeks grew up in California and graduated from Stockton High School. He enlisted in the U.S. and served his country in the Vietnam War, honorably discharged in 1971. He had many jobs and most recently worked as a truck driver for Black Hawk Waste.

Survived by his wife; a son, Matthew of Des Moines; a sister, Debra Rowlett of Alaska; six brothers: Fred Meeks of California, Michael Meeks of Alaska, and Darin Meeks, Harry Meeks Jr., Carl Meeks and Raymond Baker, all of California; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David Baker.

Services: 4 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Richard loved riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke, photography, going on cruises with Krystal and picking on his niece. Richard will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His family is very proud that he was able to help save the lives of others as an organ donor
